A 58 – year old businessman is now hospitalised after he was attacked and robbed by armed bandits about 3:00hrs Sunday morning.
According to police reports, the man and his wife arrived at their East Coast Demerara (ECD) home in their motor vehicle, a Toyota Rav4 PLL 1392 and were about to enter the house when they were pounced upon by two males, one armed with a handgun and the other with a cutlass.
The gunman shot the victim and the other lashed him on the head with the cutlass. The perpetrators then forced the elderly couple into their house, ransacked the place and went away with an undisclosed amount of valuables in the Rav4.
The businessman was rushed to a private hospital where he is admitted, in a stable condition. Investigations are in progress.
