Thirteen prisoners have escaped from the Lusignan area where “troublesome” inmates of the Camp Street Jail are being held.
A massive manhunt has been launched to recapture the prisoners and investigations into how they broke out have commenced.
The public is advised to take all necessary precautions and report all suspicious activities to the nearest police station or outpost.
The public is also asked to avoid the lower East Coast Demerara backlands until further notice.
