U-19 50-OVER: Guyana crush ICC Americas by 148 runs

Guyana started the Regional Under-19 50-over competition with a thumping 148-run win over ICC Americas on Tuesday in St. Kitts. Also recording victories were Trinidad and Tobago, who easily defeated Leeward Islands by seven wickets, and Windward Islands, who had a similar margin of victory over Jamaica.

For Guyana, First-Class player Bhaskar Yadram was the star of the show, hitting 43 and then returning to capture 4-24 off 10 overs. Guyana racked up 295-7 and then restricted ICC Americas to 147-9 when the overs finished.

Openers Kevin Sinclair and Raymond Perez set Guyana on the way to the large total with a brilliant partnership of 116. Sinclair struck 82 (116 balls; 6x4s), while Perez made 58 (85 balls; 4x4s, 2x6s).

Ronaldo Ali Mohamed muscled four sixes and three fours in 49 off 22 balls, while Joshua Persaud chipped in with 28. In ICC Americas reply, opener and captain Adhihetty Bhavindu topscored with 36.

At Molyneux: Trinidad and Tobago defeated Leeward Islands by seven wickets. Leeward Islands 122 (UVT Smith 33, KH Henry 27, A. Mahabirsingh 3-12, M. Patrick 3-18) v Trinidad and Tobago 124-3 (L. Julien 41, S. Floyd 2-24).

At Conaree: Windward Islands defeated Jamaica by seven wickets. Jamaica 140 (Javeor Royal 43, Brad Barnes 33, Shermill Lewis 4-20, Alick Athanaze 3-19) v Windward Islands 141-3 (Emmanuel Stewart 76*).
