Young Teacher died from blunt trauma to head

The post-mortem was conducted today on the body of 22-year-old Kescia Branche, who succumbed at the Georgetown Public Hospital on Tuesday, two days after she was found unconscious in the vicinity of Princess Street and Louisa Row, Georgetown.

According to the Guyana Police Force, Branche, who was a teacher at the Richard Ishmael Secondary School, died from “brain haemorrhage and blunt trauma to the head”.

The Post mortem was conducted by Government Pathologist, Dr Nehaul Singh.

On Thursday, the father of Branche’s three-year-old child was taken into custody as the probe into her death widened.

The man could not provide detectives with critical information on his most recent encounter with the teacher.

News Room was also reliably informed that the young man had in his possession the teacher’s phone, which he claimed he found in her Cummings Lodge apartment after she was found unconscious.

Additionally, four policemen remain in custody along with a middle-aged man, who was seen touching the young teacher inappropriately in the Blue Martini nightclub.
