Colidgen furniture factory destroyed by fire

A furniture factory at 3031 Industrial Estate, Colidgen on the East Coast of Demerara was completely destroyed by a fire on Saturday.

According to information received, Supra International Furniture factory, owned by Keith Munesar, a businessman of South Road, Georgetown went up in flames between 15:00hrs and 16:00hrs.

News room learnt that security guard, ‘Bachan’ called “Biggs” who was at the facility, said he noticed smoke coming from inside of the factory and called the foreman, Gunsam Yougeshwar, who secured the building,
Yougeshwar returned to the building and entered through a southern door in order to try to save items but was unable to do so since the entire lower flat was already engulfed in fire and smoke.

A call was made to 911 and 912 and fire tenders arrive from the Campbellville and Mahaica Fire stations, however, they were unable to save the building which also housed combustible and flammable liquids.
