Five men, who allegedly attempted to break into a house at Pattensen, East Coast Demerara were killed in the wee hours Tuesday, during a shootout with the police.
Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Jairam Ramlakhan told News Room that the five suspected bandits are yet to be identified.
The details surrounding the shooting are still unclear at this time, however, News Room understands that the occupants of the house, which is located near MoveieTowne, contacted the police when the men tried to break in.
A press conference is slated to be held this morning by the Commissioner of Police (ag) and News Room will provide more information as it becomes available.
