Bandit accidentally shoots accomplice after robbing man of gold chain
A 22-year-old suspected bandit of South Ruimveldt Gardens, Georgetown is nursing a gunshot wound to his left shoulder after he was accidentally shot by his accomplice who intended to shoot public-spirited citizens that were chasing them after a robbery Monday afternoon.
The accomplice managed to escape on a white XR motorcycle leaving his wounded friend behind.
News Room understands that at around 16:35hrs, Steve Munroe was at a Super Bet Outlet on Mandela Avenue and Plaza Bridge when two men, one of whom was armed with a gun, snatched a gold chain off his neck.
Public-spirited persons gave chase after the perpetrators when the bandit discharged a round in their direction but the bullet struck his accomplice instead.
The wounded suspect was taken into custody by members of the public and handed over to the police.
