Pilot dies after plane crash at Eteringbang

A single-engine aircraft on Thursday crash landed at the Eteringbang airstrip in Region Seven, exploding and killing the pilot onboard.

Residents in the area reported that the single aircraft, belonging to Domestic Airways Inc, was noticed flying at a low level over the Cuyuni River before it crashed and exploded.

The pilot has been identified as Randy Liverpool. Chairman of Region Seven, Gordon Bradford confirmed that Liverpool was travelling alone at the time of the accident but it is unclear what may have caused the mishap.

Residents are said to be heading to the site of the crash.
