Ranks of the Guyana Prison Service (GPS) seized a number of improvised weapons at the Lusignan Holding Bay after a video displaying the weapons was posted on social media.
The cell phone used to record the video was also confiscated.
According to Director of Prisons (ag), Gladwin Samuels, the video titled ‘Nation entertainment’ was brought to his attention on Tuesday and an immediate investigation was launched which revealed that the video was done in the Holding Bay.
News Room understands that the weapons were made from fencing material and a pot cover.
The video included three prisoners, two of whom are convicted and one on remand, Mr. Samuels said. He noted that they are being processed for internal charges which will be made before the end of this week.
The Prison Service in the past seized a number of improvised weapons and other contraband items at the Lusignan Holding Bay.
