Thirty-year-old Orin Jules on Tuesday confessed to killing his 23-year-old brother Dexter during an argument at their ‘D’ Field Sophia home on June 18, 2016.

Jules appeared before Justice Sandil Kissoon at the Demerara High Court charged with the capital offence of murder, however, he opted to plead guilty to the lesser count of manslaughter.

The matter is adjourned to November 19, 2019, for sentencing. On the day in question, the brothers were involved in an argument when Orin armed himself with a knife and stabbed Dexter multiple times to the chest.

Dexter was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Orin was apprehended by public-spirited persons and was handed over to the police after they found him hiding in a clump of bushes nearby.
