A gruesome accident involving motorcycle CH 7540 claimed the life of a 60-year-old painter on New Year Day.
Dead is Donald Mootoo of Bissoon Street, South Better Hope, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Police Headquarters reported that Mootoo sustained severe injuries about his body; both of his legs were severed.
The accident occurred Wednesday at about 01:50h on the Montrose Public Road, ECD.
According to reports, Mootoo was proceeding west along the southern carriageway of the road when he lost control negotiating a right turn and collided with the median on the center of the road.
As a result of the impact, his body was flung onto a light pole on the center of the road.
Mootoo was picked up in an unconscious state by public spirited citizens and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
