Woman checking on commotion outside home killed after shot in the eye

A 56-year-old woman who ventured out of her house to investigate a dispute between two neighbours at Front Road West Ruimveldt, Georgetown just after midnight, was shot in her right eye.

Florence Forte subsequently died at the Georgetown Public Hospital at around 06:38h Friday.

The News Room understands that there was a dispute between two neighbours – 46-year-old Brian Wiltshire and Timothy Evans.

Wiltshire was also shot in the chest and is in the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital.

Regional Commander, Senior Superintendent Phillip Azore told the News Room that the shooting occurred at about 01:20hrs Friday.

The Commander said that Wiltshire reportedly witnessed Evans stealing a motorcycle that belonged to his [Wiltshire’s] friend and so he took the friend to Evans house to retrieve it.

In the process, Evans opened fire on the men; upon hearing the gunshots, Forte ventured outside when she was shot.

Evans has since gone into hiding. Police investigations are ongoing.
