People’s Progressive Party (PPP) member Anil Nandlall on Thursday said the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has completed the recount of 85 ballot boxes from Region Four which showed that the number of votes were altered in favour of the APNU+AFC Coalition.

According to Nandlall, the tally of votes from those boxes show that the Returning Officer for Region Four, Clairmont Mingo added 4,415 votes in favour of the incumbent while removing 686 from the PPP.

“The boxes that are being completed continue to confirm the accuracy” of the Statements of Poll which were posted, he told the media on Thursday.

So far 212 boxes were counted for Region Four with 667 more to go.

The PPP has accused Mingo of inflating the numbers in half of the Statements of Poll for Region Four following the March 2 election in favour of the APNU+AFC.

Asked what his party is using to make the comparison, Nandlall said there are video and audio recordings of Mingo going through the SOPs at GECOM’s Head Office, Kingston Georgetown on March 13.

He said party members also took notes of the numbers called from a spreadsheet on March 5 which was used to make the first declaration.

Using those numbers which he read from a spreadsheet, the RO made two declarations –on March 5 and 13 –assuring the Coalition of a majority win.

The PPP previously released the numbers from six boxes showing the difference between the SOPs and the Statements of Recount (SORs) generated from the recount.

International electoral observers and other have deemed the tabulation fraudulent leading to the ongoing national recount.
