Police are investigating the murder of 75-year-old Earl Peters, a security guard attached to the Port Kaituma, North West District (NWD) of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM).
Police Headquarters in a statement noted that Peters was found lying on the road at Train Line soaked in blood at around 22:25h on Saturday by a businessman who heard him screaming for help.
Peters, who resided at Ballfield, Port Kaituma, was found with injuries to his abdomen, his left side head and left wrist.
By the time the Police arrived on the scene at 22:35, he was unconscious. Peters was taken to the Port Kaituma Public Hospital where he briefly regained consciousness and related to the Police that an unknown male attacked him and then escaped.
Peters later succumbed at the said hospital about 23:23hrs on Saturday. No one has been arrested and Police investigations are ongoing.
