500 attended party until 6am when Tiger Bay man was shot and killed

Some 500 persons were attending a party at Hill Street, Lodge, Georgetown, in clear breach of the COVID-19 10:30pm curfew, when 27-year-old Dale Christopher was shot and killed.

Police Headquarters in a statement noted that three persons have been arrested in connection with the murder.

Christopher of Rosemary Lane, Cummingsburg (Tiger Bay) was shot once to the abdomen at around 06:00h Tuesday.

The police report noted that Christopher was murdered by a 40-year-old unemployed male of Freeman Street, East La Penitence. Police investigations revealed that the victim left his house in the company of a friend at around 01:15h to attend the party.

“A popular DJ and Selector duo further alleged that they were hired to provide their services for the party at Hill Street Lodge. They said about 06:00hrs while they were performing, they heard about two to three explosions suspected to be gunshots which caused the approximately 500-strong crowd to scatter and disperse. They were subsequently told that someone had been shot which caused them to abandon their performance and head to their respective residences,” the police report noted.

According to the report, a taxi driver of Tucville Housing Scheme stated that he was driving on Mandela Avenue when he was stopped by three men, who were carrying the bleeding Christopher.

Together, they transported the victim to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The scene was processed by crime scene technicians and the deceased was swabbed for gunshot residue.
