The 26-year-old woman who was beaten and stabbed multiple times by her 49-year-old boyfriend on Sunday has died. The woman succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), Police reported.
Dead is Omela Singh of Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD), Region Three. The woman died at around 19:45 hrs on Sunday.
Her body is currently at the GPHC’s mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
According to police reports, the incident occurred at around 12:30hrs at the woman’s home. Police said that the suspect visited the woman’s house and during his time there an argument ensued; it escalated and the man reportedly cuffed and stabbed her multiple times causing the knife to be stuck in her abdomen.
On Monday, the Guyana Police Force reported that it has intensified its search for the perpetrator. It was noted that several checks and searches of his home and the surrounding area were made but he could not be found.
