Former Golden Jaguars manager succumbs to COVID-19
Former Manager of Guyana’s senior national Men’s football team, Mark Xavier, passed away on Tuesday evening in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit, becoming the country’s latest COVID-related death.
Xavier, who would have turned 55 tomorrow (June 30), had contracted the virus and was in the Intensive Care Unit for the last four days.
On June 16, mere days before being hospitalised, Xavier posted a photo on social media making a donation to the Civil Defence Commission on behalf of his company, XY Construction Inc., to assist persons affected by flooding across the country.
Xavier had served as the Golden Jaguars Manager alongside Head Coach, Jamaal Shabazz, during the 2014 World Cup Qualifiers.
