Dwayne Daniel Taitt, 24, an enforcement officer attached to the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA), was stabbed to death just after midnight Sunday by the son of his landlady.

Police said Taitt lived at the Lot 2 Middleton Street, Campbellville, Georgetown, house with his reputed wife and two-year-old daughter.

Taitt and his family were renting an apartment from Jacklyn Lamaizon.

Lamaizon had on Sunday afternoon told Taitt and his reputed wife Aaliyah that they had up until this Wednesday, July 14, to vacate the premises.

On Monday, just after midnight, the family was awakened by a loud banging on their door. They soon discovered that the landlady’s son was using a piece of wood to hit the door and was shouting at them to “move out.”

When Taitt opened the door, Police said he was attacked by the landlady’s son. He ran out into the street, but the suspect pursued him and stabbed him to the chest.

Taitt was picked up by his reputed wife and a security guard and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he was pronounced dead.

The landlady’s son, who initially fled the scene, has been arrested and is in custody.
