Patients with clotting disorders and receiving chemo, dialysis should get clearance from doctor before taking vaccines – Chief Medical Officer

Patients who have an underlying blood clotting disorder such as haemophilia as well as those patients who are receiving chemotherapy or dialysis should receive clearance from their doctor before taking a COVID-19 vaccine.

This is according to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr. Narine Singh, in a memorandum detailing the updated information for COVID-19 vaccination exemptions.

All individuals aged 18 years and older are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccines; however, only people aged 18 to 60 can receive the Chinese- Sinopharm vaccine.

Meanwhile, children aged 12 years and older will be able to receive the US-made Pfizer vaccines.
