Guyana made a winning start in the COTECC/ITF Under-12 tennis tournament, with number one seed Nathan DeNobrega and Elwyn Levius coming out victorious in their Singles opening game on Sunday in Santo Domingo.
Levius won in straight sets, defeating Ethan Warner 6-3, 6-4. DeNobrega, on the other hand, had to recover from a first set deficit to Dimitri Kirton to register a come-from-behind win.
Kirton took the first set 6-3, but DeNobrega rebounded well in the next two sets to take the game with 6-2, 6-4 successes.
Following their Singles success, DeNobrega and Levius then teamed up to win their Doubles contest against Warner and Kirton, both of Barbados.
DeNobrega and Levius 6-2, 6-4. The tournament will end on October 2.
