HISTORIC: Guyana qualifies for main draw of ITF U-12

Guyana’s dominance in the COTECC/ITF Under-12 tennis tournament continued on Wednesday when the country qualified for the main draw for the first time, thanks to the fantastic exploits of Nathan DeNobrega and Elwyn Levius.

The pair continued their unbeaten run in the competition, defeating their US Virgin Islands competitors quite comfortably in the Singles segment in Santo Domingo.

Levius was in sublime form against Weston Wagner, producing a flawless game, which ended 6-0, 6-0 in his favour.

DeNobrega matched Levius effort, with a 6-4, 6-3, win over Croix Nelthropp.

To cap a remarkable day, DeNobrega and Lewis defeated the USVI pair Henry Collins and Nelthropp 6-2, 6-4 in the Doubles segment.

DeNobrega and Levius have been outstanding in the tournament and Wednesday’s results followed their previous Singles and Doubles wins over Barbados and Haiti.
