Murder of electrician: Two suspects shot dead

The Guyana Police Force has confirmed the shooting death of the two suspects involved in the murder of 19-year-old Joshua Denny.

Police said the two suspects were shot during a stakeout by police at the UG Access Road, East Coast Demerara Saturday at about 18:00hrs. The police did not provide further details on the incident.

Denny, an electrician was shot dead moments after leaving his Festival City Georgetown house on Thursday last. He was robbed of his 18 pennyweight gold chain and shot twice by the suspects.

According to the police, a witness said he heard two loud explosions suspected to be gunshots and he looked through a window and saw Denny standing on the street shouting he was shot.

The witness also saw a male running in a southern direction and then west on a cross street and joined a waiting motorcycle with a male and they both rode away in a western direction.

Denny died while undergoing surgery at the Georgetown Public Hospital. He was shot to the right upper chest and right upper hand.

Denny was expecting his first child and has been hailed as a hard-working young man and disciplined football player.
