A 29-year-old Police Constable stationed at Central Police Station in New Amsterdam is in the intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the New Amsterdam Hospital after he was brutally stabbed and beaten by his brothers.
Raul Rodrigues had a misunderstanding with his 22-year-old brother on Monday at about 18:00hrs at Canefield Settlement, East Canje, Berbice.
The Guyana Police Force, in a statement, said the brother managed to arm himself with a knife and stabbed Rodrigues several times to the abdomen and right leg.
Rodrigues’ 24-year-old brother-in-law reportedly tried to bring peace and “dealt the victim several cuffs about his body,” the police reported.
Both suspects have been arrested as investigations continue.
