Guyana made a winning start to the Concacaf Girls Under-17 Championship Qualifier, edging past Anguilla in their opening game at the IMG Academy in Florida, USA, on Thursday.

While Guyana missed a penalty in the 19th minute and a chance to take the lead, Sue Edwards made no mistake a minute from half-time, finding the back of the net to give the Guyanese the advantage.

It proved to be the lone goal of the Group C contest. The Guyanese next play Honduras on Saturday and the Turks and Caicos on November 1.

The winner of each of the three groups will progress to the finals, along with the best ranked second place finisher.
