Sharma, Silas and Henry excel in DCB U-15 Inter-Assoc. cricket

The Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) Under-15 Inter-Association cricket competition, sponsored by Premier Insurance, bowled off on Tuesday with Mickel Sharma, Kishan Silas and Brandon Henry making their mark with outstanding individual performances.

In the lone game played at the Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) ground, Woolford Avenue, Georgetown defeated East Coast by 119 runs.

Insert to take first strike, Georgetown posted 185 from 45.3 of the allotted 50 overs. Opener Silas led the way with a topscore of 60, while skipper Dave Mohabir and Shane Prince made 19 each, Peter Khan 13 and Emanuel Lewis 11.

Sharma was the best bowler on show, claiming an impressive 6-23 from 6.3 overs, three of which were maidens. There was a wicket each for Alonzo Ramsingh, Munesh Outar, Arun Gainda and Ravin Persaud.

East Coast, in reply, were dismissed for 66 in 38.2 overs with Henry returning excellent figures of 6-4 off eight overs, including five maidens.

Reyaz Latiff supported with 2-11, as Outar made 13 and Aaron Kissoon 10.

Meanwhile, the two matches slated for Wednesday- East Coast versus Upper Demerara at Enmore and East Bank against Georgetown at the MYO ground- were called off due to heavy rainfall in the county.
