Three persons are now dead after the driver of a speeding Toyota Raum motorcar lost control on the DeWillem public road, West Coast Demerara, and crashed into them on Monday evening.
Dead are a 23-year-old Venezuelan national, identified only as ‘Carlito’; ‘Rocky’ of Zeeburg, West Coast Demerara, and ‘Quarter’ of Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara.
The now dead trio was standing outside Sharmila Harrykissoon Sports Bar.
According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle was heading west along the road when the driver lost control, slammed into a park SUV in front of the Sports Bar and then into the persons standing nearby.
The vehicle came to a halt at the entrance of the Sports Bar, the impact damaging a section of the property in the process.
The Venezuelan national received severe injuries as he was pitched some distance from the point of impact and into a nearby drain.
The driver of the car is in a critical condition, while four other persons are injured.
