Police Inspector charged for having sexual relations with child

A Police Inspector has found himself on the other side of the law when he appeared at the New Amsterdam Magistrates Court to answer to the charges of having sexual activity with a child and also indecent assault against the child.
45-year-old Police Inspector, Joseph Anthon of Stanleytown, New Amsterdam Berbice was arrested and charged on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, before Magistrate Alex Moore.
According to a brief summary of the facts, the accused between September 1 and 30, 2012 engaged in sexual activity with the child at a house in Stanleytown, New Amsterdam Berbice. Anthon was released on $75,000 bail and is expected to make another court appearance on October 10, 2016.
In relation to the indecent assault charge which he committed against the child on January 1, 2003, Anthon pleaded not guilty to the charge.
He was granted pre trial liberty and the matter was transferred to the Whim Magistrates Court for October 24, 2016.
