Mom butchered on Int’l Women’s Day

Forty year old Bindrawattie Sumwar also known as “Sharda” of Lot 22 Princetown Corriverton, East Berbice was brutally hacked to death today (March 8) by her reputed husband.

The horrific act was committed around 15:00hrs at the family’s home in the presence of the woman’s two young children.

According to information reaching News Room, the suspect, 29 year old Ravendra Basdeo also known as “Birdy” of the same address has been accusing the woman of infidelity for some time now.

It is reported that the woman left the home and was living with another man.

The suspect reportedly begged the woman to return home and when she returned, launched an attack with a cutlass, subsequently chopping her through the mouth, after a deadly chase around the yard.

The woman reportedly died instantly as her children fled the scene to safety and informed persons of what had transpired.

Basdeo,  who works as a carpenter is said to have always been  abusive, leaving persons to speculate that the woman left because of this constant abuse.

Things escalated today when the couple reportedly got into an argument over money and infidelity.

Persons who live nearby indicated that the woman has always proven herself to be very hard working and would go the extra mile to provide for her children.

Reports reaching News Room from Berbice stated that the two children are not fathered by the suspect.

Divisional Commander, Senior Superintendent Errol Watts and Divisional Detective Superintendent Paul were also on the murder scene,  as ranks conducted their investigations.

The suspect was captured by residents of the area and is in custody assisting the police with their investigations.

Unfortunately, the woman was gruesomely murdered today, when Guyana along with the rest of the world is celebrating International Women’s Day.
