The Guyana Police Force is refuting statements appearing in a Stabroek News article captioned “Family of Coverden crash victim plead with Police to speed-up probe”, which was published today (March 9).

The Guyana Police Force says the investigations into the fatal accident that occurred on January 30, 2016, at Coverden, East Bank Demerara, and which resulted in the death of Ann Mohamed, have been completed.

It was clarified that the police are in the process of seeking legal advice in the matter from the Chambers of the Director of Public Prosecution.

The concern about a driver who was allegedly involved in the accident seen driving on the roads is noted, however, the Force says suspension of his driver’s license is dependent on the receipt of legal advice, following which an Order to that effect can be prepared and served.
