Pele FC down GFC 2 – 0 …. Monedderlust, Buxton in 1 – 1 draw
Pele FC cruised to a 2 – 0 win over bottom of the table Georgetown Football Club (GFC), while Monedderlust and Buxton United played a 1 – 1 draw, when action in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) STAG Elite League continued on last evening at the #5 Ground in Berbice.
Playing in their second match without star striker Gregory ‘Jackie Chan’ Richardson, Pele FC, having played to a goalless first half, scored first, with the goal coming off the boot of Rayon Morrison in the 55th minute, and then Omallo Williams fired home the night’s second in the 85th minute.
The loss was GFC’s fourth as their miserable showing in the league continues.
Meanwhile, with Monedderlust chasing their first win in the STAG Elite League (Finale), the Berbicians had to settle for one point, after failing to build on their 25th minute lead after Sean Jackman found the net for the home team.
The lead lasted throughout the first half but Denvor Dennis equalised for the East Coast Demerara club in the 57th minute.
GFC will have a chance of redemption in their attempt to secure a win, when they come up against the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) on Wednesday at the Tucville Community Centre Ground in the opening game of a double header from 18:00 hours.
Fruta Conquerors, whose only loss was handed to them by league leaders Slingerz FC, will look to outclass Pele who will have Richardson in their line-up.
