GFC, Monedderlust still winless

Fruta Conquerors Football Club pulled off their biggest margin of victory in the STAG Elite League (Finale), after scoring a 6 – 2 win over the hapless Georgetown Football Club (GFC) last evening (March 24) at the #5 Ground, Berbice.

On the same night, the home team, Monedderlust FC, played to a 1 – 1 draw with the Guyana Defence Force (GDF).

Forward Hubert Pedro netted a hat-trick, doing so in the 52nd, 53rd and 80th minute, while the Fruta Conquerors’ other goals came from Shaquille Agard (20th) and Dennis Edwards (51st and 54th) as the Guyana Beverage Company sponsored team, despite the win, still sits in second place on the points table behind Slingerz FC.

Romario Welcome (44th) and Linden Pickett (90+3) were GFC goal scorers as the club slumped to their sixth defeat in seven matches, leaving them still winless.

The GDF, looking for three points to move into third place and above Alpha United, will have to wait a little longer since they were held to an unimpressive draw by Monedderlust.

It was Monedderlust’s third draw in seven outings, having loss the four games to join GFC as the only team teams that are yet to pick up a win in the League Finale.

Meanwhile, the STAG Elite League will continue on Sunday April 3 at the GDF Ground with a double header.

Buxton United will have their second meeting with league leaders Slingerz FC from 18:00 hours and Alpha United face their nemesis Pele FC.
