The Government of Guyana this afternoon (March 29) announced that the appointment of Mr. Brian Tiwarie as Ministerial Advisor on Business Development has been rescinded.

This follows widespread criticism from several sections of the society after his appointment was first publicized.

His appointment was made by State Minister, Joseph Harmon, who is currently out of the country.

However, Public Security Minister, Khemraj Ramjattan recently in the media said he was unaware of the appointment until he read of it in the newspapers. He also admitted that such an appointment should have been made by the Business Minister, Dominic Gaskin.

Tiwarie is also embroiled in a land deal scandal, where it is alleged he sold acres of state lands he acquired under the previous administration to a Chinese Investor.

The businessman was also responsible for many failed projects, including the Supenaam Ferry Wharf, Essequibo, which was constructed under his company, BK International.
