DDL LAUNCHES 50TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL EDITION RUM

President David Granger last evening attended the launch of the El Dorado 50th Anniversary Special Edition Rum at the Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) Heritage Centre, Plantation Diamond.

 

 

During his feature address the Head of State highlighted the many contributions of the rum industry to Guyana’s economic development.

 

 

He reminded that rum is a value added product which contributes majorly to the country’s exports, excise revenue and employment.

 

 

It was pointed out that Guyana is now known to millions of people around the world because of its many rums.

 

 

President Granger commended the Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) for maintaining the high quality of rums it produces, which has earned international acclaim.

 

 

The President was also presented with the first bottle of the Special Edition Rum, which costs 500,000 dollars plus VAT.

There is an 18 karat gold seal on the bottle and there are only 600 bottles available.

 

The President was accompanied by Prime Minister, Moses Nagamootoo and were given a tour of the rum facility.
