The police on Tuesday (May 10) received intelligence that two objects were tossed over the Camp Street Prison premier fence by persons who are thus far unknown.
This is even as President David Granger last month ordered that the police boundaries around the facility be extended, given the frequent incidents there over the past few months.
The News Room was reliably informed that some time on Tuesday a report was made to the prisons administration that two objects, suspected to be firearms were thrown over the fence, however an immediate search of the facility failed to net anything.
At 03:00hrs this morning a search operation was launched at the prisons in an attempt to locate the objects.
The operation, according to inside sources saw the strengthening of the manpower on the exterior and interior of the prison and enforcement from the Guyana Police Force’s Tactical Services Unit was also acquired.
It is unclear if up to the time of this report, the operation was successful. The News Room will bring you details in this latest development, as it becomes available.
