Retired Professor found murdered in home

Ray Mars, a retired professor from a University in Michigan, United States was on Thursday evening found murdered in his home by his wife.

The News Room understands that the 75 year old man was at his residence at 395 Bissessar Street Prashad Nagar for most of the day on Thursday

Based on information received by the News Room, at approximately 0230 hrs on Thursday afternoon, five persons were seen leaving the man’s home with several suitcases.

No alarm was raised by neighbours since among the five persons were two women, one of who is said to be a frequent visitor to the man’s home.

Mars lived at the location with his wife.

Police sources indicated to the News Room that when the man’s wife returned home on Thursday afternoon, she found her husband tied up with duct tape and was bleeding from wounds to the head and face.

The woman quickly raised an alarm and took the man to the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

When the News Room visited the hospital on Thursday evening, the dead man’s wife would not speak about the death of her husband and asked that her privacy be respected.

A number of close friends and family gathered at the home and hospital to comfort the woman who was visibly shaken by the death of her husband.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
