    Death toll in Essequibo fatal crash rises

    TWENTY THREE- Year Old Stephen Benn, who was up to yesterday listed as critical following the horrific Essequibo Friday evening accident, has succumbed to his injuries.

     

    The News Room was informed that the youngman died this morning at around 06:00 hrs at the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was a patient since yesterday, after being transported there from Essequibo.

     

     

    The other persons who were up to yesterday listed as critical are still being monitored by doctors and other health workers at the Georgetown Public Hospital, while those with less severe injuries continue to be treated at the Suddie Hospital in Region 2.

     

    It was on Friday that a car and minibus collided after the occupants of both vehicles were said to be returning from outings. The two vehicles were travelling in separate directions at the time of the accident.

    As a result the driver of the motor car Gavin Laurie, 19 years, of Pln. Andrews, Essequibo; and Levon Gray, 43 years, and Eson Cornette, 20 years, of Dartmouth, Essequibo, who were in the mini-bus, received injuries and were admitted to the Suddie Hospital where they subsequently succumbed.

    The minibus, according to police sources was carrying more persons than is required.
