The Director of Public Prosecution Shalimar Ali-Hack has recommended that the Guyana Police Force lay the capital charge of murder against five teenagers inclusive of two girls, for the murder of Professor Perry Mars.

This was confirmed by Crime Chief, Senior Superintendent Wendell Blanhum today, who said that after reviewing the facts, statements and evidence provided, the DPP made her recommendation.

The recommendation of the DPP comes four days after the Professor was found dead in his home by his wife.

Additionally, the Post mortem performed on the man revealed that the he died as a result of manual strangulation compounded by multiple trauma to the face and head. When the professor was discovered in his house slumped in a chair, tied up, he had severe injuries to the head and face.

When the News Room inquired about charges for the sixth teenager, who is said to be 16 years old, we were told that he was not charged with any offence, since he was only found in possession of stolen items which were given to him by one of the suspects.
