Guyanese and other seawall visitors can expect a steel pan treat on Saturday May 21 from 5:00 pm at the seawall boardwalk located at the 1823 monument and the Seawall Bandstand where the National Commemoration Commission will stage a “Pan on de Wall” concert.
This event fully sponsored by Republic Bank Limited will showcase the skill, talent and diverse repertoire of music of Guyanese Steel Bands given that over the past fifty (50) years the steel band has been an integral part of Guyana’s musical heritage and has been a prominent feature in every major festival, the fiftieth Independence being no different.
The cast for the ‘Pan on De Wall’ concert includes the Guyana Police Force Steel Band, Parkside Steel Orchestra, North Ruimveldt Secondary School, the Guyana Defence Force Band, Buxton Pride Steel Orchestra, the National Steel Orchestra amongst other top steel pan performers. Each band will perform and showcase the depth of their repertoire and high level of musicianship.
The repertoire of music being presented at the concert will include classical, religious, national and patriotic songs, reggae, jazz, calypso and chutney. This show is one of the many calendar events being hosted by the National Commemoration Commission.
