DEVELOPING: 2014, 2016 murder suspects caught in Lethem

Police in ‘F’ Division moments ago arrested 21 year old, Leroy Ignacia of North Rupununi after they received information that he was in the Lethem area hiding out.

 

Ignacia was being sought by the police, after he reportedly murdered Terrence Robin James, 23 years on April 19th, 2014.

 

 

According to information coming into the News Room, Ignacia has been hiding out in Brazil ever since the crime and would occasionally visit Guyana and then return to Brazil. It was during one of his “step overs” that the police received the information of his presence and quickly swooped down on the location and arrested him.

 

 

Police sources who spoke with  News Room today said the suspect related that he and the deceased had a misunderstanding over a girl back in April 2014, which ended up in a fight but he, Ignacia managed to overpower the deceased, took away his knife and stabbing him, but not before he was also stabbed.

 

Ignacia told the police that he stabbed Terrence once to the chest before escaping, making  his way over to Brazil.

 

 

Back in 2014, the body of Terrence was found on the roadway at Lethem with stab wounds . His body was discovered just before sunrise , the young man was said to be a resident of Kwatamang Village, North Rupununi.

 

 

Meanwhile also in Lethem this morning, the police  picked up 44 year old, Orin Paul also called ‘Ants’ of Best Village, West Coast Demerara.

 

He was wanted by the police for the murder of Eric Angel, 26 years who was murdered at Black Water, Cuyuni River on May 5th, 2016. He has confessed to the murder.

 

Investigations are ongoing and charges will be laid shortly.
