Police conduct successful drug eradication exercises and several raids

Police conducted several drug eradication exercises yesterday in the Berbice River.
During the operation, over five (5) acres of cannabis cultivations, several nurseries, in excess of 600 kilograms of dried cannabis and five camps were discovered and destroyed by fire.
The plants range between two to seven feet, however no arrests were made.
 
Meantime, the Guyana Police Force has also reported that during the early morning of June 11, 2016, members of a police river patrol conducted a search on a house in the Berbice River, where they found an unlicensed single barrel shotgun and five (5) live twelve gauge cartridges.
A male was arrested and is assisting with the investigation.
 
In addition, at around 05:20 hrs yesterday, police conducted a search on a house at Enmore, ECD, where an unlicensed 9MM pistol and nineteen (19) live 9MM ammunition were found.
A male is arrested and in police custody assisting with the investigation.
