KN Grenade throwing; suspect surrenders

Janiel Howard called “JP” who was wanted by the police in connection with the grenade tossing at Kaieteur News on June 6 has surrendered to the police in the company of his lawyer.

 

 

The News Room has been informed that the lawyer has requested not to be named at this point. The 30 year old suspect showed up at the Ruimveldt Police Station.

 

 

A wanted bulletin was issued for Howard by the police yesterday, after investigators received information that he was involved in some way, in the incident leading up to the throwing of the grenade at the vehicle of KN Publisher, Glenn Lall two Saturdays ago, while it was parked in front of the Newspaper.

 

 

Howard was the second person that the police issued a wanted bulletin for in connection with the incident. News Room was informed that the police are still looking for other persons.

 

 

 

The charge of “attempting to cause an explosion” would be laid against the accused, once the police receive advice from the Director of Public Prosecution to proceed .

This morning Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum told News Room that the police will be sending the file to the DPP shortly.
