Police constable, Ishaan Caines was killed in an accident at Bamia on the Soesdyke-Linden Highway around 15:15hrs today.
Newsroom was informed that the 26-year-old constable, of lot 184 Coverden East Bank Demerara was driving motor car PPP 7936 at a fast rate going south, when he lost control of the vehicle which turned turtle and ended up on the eastern side of the road on its hood.
Caines was stationed at the Mackenzie police station.
The driver sustained several bruises and other injuries as a result of the accident.
He was rushed to the Linden Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
It is unclear where the cop was heading at the time of the accident.
An investigation has been launched into the matter.
