Team Gillette Evolution enjoys excellent weekend outing

After a relatively quiet performance at the Guyana Cycling Federation’s National Cycling Championship over the preceding weekends, Team Gillette Evolution riders were back in winner’s row this weekend.

 

Two races were held over the last two days and Raul Leal and his Team Gillette Evolution teammate Michael Anthony emerged top of the podium.

 

Competing in heavy rain in the Malta Supreme 11-race programme on Saturday, Leal outsprinted Team Coco’s Hamzah Eastman to win the feature 35-lap School Boys and Invitational.

 

Leal clocked one hour, 20 minutes, 17 seconds, to finish ahead of Eastman, Alonso Ambrose, Christopher Griffith, Marlon Williams and Kemuel Moses in that order.

 

On Sunday, Anthony matched his teammate’s performance, winning the annual Dr Chase/Seven Seas road race on the West Demerara roadway.

 

Recently crowned national Elite Road Race champion Geron Williams finished second, followed by Eastman, Leal, Shaquel Agard and Stephano Husbands.
