GUYANA HINDU DHARMIC SABHA TO OBSERVE NAUJAWAAN KA HAPTA (NATIONAL HINDU YOUTH WEEK)

July 10-16th has been designated Naujwaan ka Hapta or National Hindu Youth Week. The practice of observing Naujawan ka Hapta by the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha begun over 35 years ago with the aim of fostering activities integral to the development of Hindu Youths.

 

The highlight of this period is the National Hindu Youth Conference which will be hosted by the Central Dharmic Naujawaan on the 16th of July at the Pandit Reepu Daman Persaud Dharmic Sanskritik Kendra in Prashad Nagar. Hundreds of youths throughout the country are expected to attend and participate in lively discussions based on pertinent presentations by their peers. The conference will be held under the theme “Moulding Tomorrow’s Hindu Leaders”. A presentation is expected to be made by President of Dharmic Sabha, Dr. Vindhya V. Persaud. All Hindu youths are invited to participate in the conference.

 

Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha’s youth or naujawaan groups across the country will also be hosting a number of activities during this period in their communities. Scores of youths traditionally participate in or attend these events. The week begins with a Youth Camp hosted by the West Coast Demerara Naujawaan at the De Willem Mandir on the 9-10th July at 9:00am each day. This activity will conclude with Garba night.

 

In observance of Naujwaan ka Hapta, youths will be visiting mandirs and hosting youth-centric satsanghs; July 14th Rosignol Mandir, West Berbice at 6:00pm, July 11th at No. 59 Mandir, Upper C/tyne, July at Williamsburg Mandir, Central C/tyne and 12th July Shri Satya Vedic Mandir, Grove, East Bank Demerara at 6:30pm.

 

The Essequibo Praant Naujwaan has planned a day of sports on 12th July at 10:00am at Lake Mainstay.

 

The Central Naujwaan also launches its Autism Campaign this month. A visit to Bal Nivas, the Sabha’s Shelter for children who are victims of abuse has been planned to coincide with the observance on July 14th by youths of Upper C/tyne and East Berbice. A youth panel discussion by the East Berbice Praant’s Youth group; Golden Om Dharmic will be on the 12 th of July on the local channels. The East Berbice Youth group will also be hosting Mahautsav; a concert for youths on July 17 th .

 

A series of Youth Camps will commence and continue into the months of July- August. Youth camps will be held as follows:- 13 th – 1th July at Reliance Veda Center, East Berbice, 25th-27th August, D’Edward, Bath, Blairmont Mamdirs in West Berbice, 15th – 20th August in Central Corentyne and 18th-24th July, Crabwood Creek Shiva Mandir, Upper Corentyne. All youths in the various Praants are invited to participate and attend these events.

 

An art, craft and activity vacation program for children commences on the 11th July and runs for a month at the Dharmic Kendra in Prashad Nagar. All materials are provided. Call 227-6181 to register your children.

 

A series of music, dance and singing classes will commence in the Essequibo, East Berbice, West Coast Berbice and Demerara Praants over the July-August periods. Bacho ka satsangh (Children in Fellowship classes) will be held every Sunday at 10:00am at the Shri Krishna Mandir, C/ville. These are Hinduism classes for children and are open to all children; ages 5-13 years.

 

Our youths will also be featured on Kala Milan and other programs of the Sabha during this period. Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha remains committed to providing multiple platforms for youths and working with them to develop sound value systems, well-rounded personalities, a sound knowledge of Hinduism and a spirit of volunteerism.
