Twenty-nine-year-old Suresh Ganesh called “Tarzan” was today remanded for the murder of his reputed wife and their two–year–old son at their Lot 57, Best Village, West Coast Demerara (WCD) home.

On July 01, 2016, Ganesh allegedly chopped his wife, twenty-five-year-old, Vanessa Sookram and two-year-old child, Joel Ganesh to death at their home. An eyewitness, on July 01, told News Room that the baby was seen on the bed with intestines protruding while his wife was covered in blood.

He was subsequently shot by police and taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital.

The man was not required to plead to the charge when he appeared before Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court. He was remanded until August 29.

Ganesh also chopped his mother-in-law’s hand on the day of the incident. The woman was present today in court, calling for justice for her daughter and grandson.

There are many stories relating to the reason for committing the act, however, the now dead woman’s mother told local media that her daughter suffered various forms of abuse at the hands of Ganesh.
