The Guyana Power and Light (GPL) in a statement on Wednesday noted that at approximately 23:09hrs last evening(July 12, 2016), the Demerara-Berbice Interconnected System experienced a shutdown as a result of a faulty connection or “Pot Head” that links the 69KV submarine cable to the overhead transmission lines at Kingston.

While restoration efforts were hampered to a minimal extent due to problems encountered while restarting some of the generating units at its Kingston Plants, the company said power was restored to most consumers by 02:30 hrs.

GPL said every effort is being made to restore the link to its Vreed-en-Hoop 26 MW Station.

The company once again said it regrets any inconvenience caused.
