Two fishermen were on Monday charged at the Springlands Magistrate Court for the Possession of Narcotics for the Purpose of Trafficking.

25-year-old Johnny Barry and 21-year-old Brian Warde of No. 77 Housing Scheme appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh on Monday.

It is alleged that they were busted with a quantity of Cannabis weighing forty eight (48) grams at a popular drinking spot located in No.67 Village Corentyne, Berbice on Friday last.

The men pleaded not guilty and were granted bail in the sum of $50,000 each. They are required to return to court on the 8th August 2016.

According to reports reaching Newsroom, the Cannabis was found in the back seat of a car occupied by the two men, following a search by ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) ‘B’ Division. They were told of the allegation and were arrested and taken to the Springlands Police Station.
