53-year-old man killed by drunk driver
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) is currently investigating a fatal accident which occurred about 21:30hrs on Sunday July 31, 2016, on Ever Green Public Road, Essequibo Coast.
Dead is a 53-year-old pedestrian; Lawrence Tans of Charity, Essequibo Coast.
Investigations revealed that driver was proceeding along the said public road when he struck down the pedestrian.
Tans was taken to the Suddie Hospital where he was admitted and succumbed about 22:00hrs while receiving medical treatment.
The driver was tested and found to be well above the legal alcohol limit.
He is presently in police custody assisting with the investigation.
