Several persons charged for Drunk driving

The following persons have been charged by the police for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Recently, Commissioner of Police, Seelall Persaud stated that the major contributory factors to road accidents are driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding.

 

The Commissioner said the police force had 14,214 cases of speeding and that has represented an increase of 21.4 percent for the corresponding last year.

 

Additionally, there has been 990 cases of driving under the influence were recorded which amounts to a 90 percent increase when compared to the rates last year.

 

  1. Ganesh Ramsooke of Lot 12 Williamsburg, Corentyne, Berbice, was stopped and tested with a breathalyser on 2016-07-07 while driving motor vehicle PGG 6757 on the Kiltern Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice. He was found to be above the legal limit in terms of the consumption of alcohol. He was charged and appeared at the Whim Magistrate Court on 2016-07-08 where he pleaded ‘guilty’ and was fined $7,500.00.

 

  1. Nazim Mohamed of Lot 77 Skeldon, Corentyne, Berbice, was stopped and tested with a breathalyser on 2016-06-17 while driving motor vehicle CB 88 on the Skeldon Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice. He was found to be above the legal limit in terms of the consumption of alcohol. He was charged and appeared at the Springlands Magistrate Court on 2016-06-20 where he pleaded ‘guilty’ and was fined $7, 500.00.

 

  1. Kamraj Chanves of Lot 551 Block 19, Line Path, Skeldon, Berbice, was stopped and tested with a breathalyser on 2016-06-17 while driving motor vehicle HC 5449 on the Skeldon Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice. He was found to be above the legal limit in terms of the consumption of alcohol. He was charged and appeared at the Springlands Magistrate Court on 2016-06-20 where he pleaded ‘guilty’ and was fined $7, 500.00.

 

  1. Fidel Toolsie of Lot 67 No. 68 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, was stopped and tested with a breathalyser on 2016-06-16 while driving motor vehicle PVV 4874 on the Springlands Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice. He was found to be above the legal limit in terms of the consumption of alcohol. He was charged and appeared at the Springlands Magistrate Court on 2016-06-17 where he pleaded ‘guilty’ and was fined $7,500.00.

 

  1. Dewar Budhu of Lot 203 No. 67 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, was stopped and tested with a breathalyser on 2016-06-17 while driving motor vehicle CF 6367 on the Skeldon Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice. He was found to be above the legal limit in terms of the consumption of alcohol. He was charged and appeared at the Springlands Magistrate Court on 2016-06-17 where he pleaded ‘guilty’ and was fined $7,500.00.

 

  1. Mahindra Chattergoon of Paradise Village, Essequibo Coast, was stopped and tested with a breathalyser on 2016-06-14 while driving motor vehicle PPP 7216 on the Walton Hall Public Road, Essequibo Coast. He was found to be above the legal limit in terms of the consumption of alcohol. He was charged and appeared at the Anna Regina Magistrate Court on 2016-06-15 where he pleaded ‘guilty’ and was fined $30,000.00. In addition, his licence was endorsed.

 

  1. Kayshaw Sham of Columbia, Essequibo Coast, was stopped and tested with a breathalyser on 2016-06-06 while driving motor vehicle HB 5773 on the Bush Lot Public Road, Essequibo Coast. He was found to be above the legal limit in terms of the consumption of alcohol. He was charged and appeared at the Anna Regina Magistrate Court on 2016-06-07 where he pleaded ‘guilty’ and was fined $30,000.00.

 

  1. Talesh Mahindranauth of Lot 113 Richmond, Essequibo Coast, was stopped and tested with a breathalyser on 2016-06-05 while driving motor vehicle GKK 6848 on the Anna Regina Public Road, Essequibo Coast. He was found to be above the legal limit in terms of the consumption of alcohol. He was charged and appeared at the Anna Regina Magistrate Court on 2016-06-15 where he pleaded ‘guilty’ and was fined $30,000.00.
