One remanded and one sentenced to three years imprisonment for unlicensed possession of firearm and ammo

Police ranks conducting patrols in the Arautipu Mountain, Wenamu, Cuyuni River, arrested and charged two persons separately, with Possession of Firearm and Ammunition without being the holders of valid firearm licenses.

They appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly at Court Two of the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts today, where Oneil Melbourne of La Grange, W.B.D pleaded not guilty to having in his possession one  12 gauge shotgun and three matching cartridges.

He was remanded to prison until September 6, 2016 for trial.

Osmarlyn Pinto, a Venezuelan national pleaded guilty to having in her possession ten point 38 rounds of ammunition and was sentenced to three years imprisonment.
